Trochidae – Trochinae: Clanculus philippii (Koch in Philippi, 1843) (‘Philipp’s top-shell’)
Synonym(s): philippii Koch, 1843 conspersus A. Adams, 1853 yatesi Crosse, 1863 philomenae Tenison-Woods, 1876 raphaeli Tenison-Woods, 1877 purpuratus Pilsbry, 1889.
Typical shell-length 13 mm. Lives intertidally and subtidally amongst seagrass. Native. Endemic to southeastern and southwestern Australia (TAS, VIC, SA and WA). In Tasmanian waters, this species is currently known only from a single record (unverified by SG) from Flinders Island; however, this may refer to a different species since Tasmania is well beyond the normal range for this species.
