Vampyroteuthidae: Vampyroteuthis infernalis Chun, 1903 (‘vampire squid’)

Typical mantle-length 120 mm. Lives in offshore waters in midwater. Native. Occurs in eastern Australia (QLD and TAS); also widespread elsewhere. In Tasmanian waters, this species has been recorded as beak(s) recovered from the guts of beached whale(s).
