Architectonicidae – Architectonicinae: Philippia lutea (Lamarck, 1822) (‘yellow sundial-shell’)

Synonym(s): lutea Lamarck, 1822 novaehollandiae Philippi, 1853.

Typical shell-length 15 mm. Lives subtidally on sand and amongst rocks. Native. Endemic to southeastern and southwestern Australia (QLD, NSW, TAS, VIC, SA and WA). In Tasmanian waters, this is a widespread but uncommon species; most likely to be recorded along the E coast.
