Muricidae – Ergalataxinae: Maculotriton serriale (Deshayes, 1834) (‘granulated castor-bean-shell’)
Synonym(s): serriale Deshayes, 1834.
Typical shell-length 17 mm. Lives subtidally. Native. Occurs in eastern Australia (QLD, NSW and TAS); also elsewhere in the Indo-Pacific. In Tasmanian waters, this species is currently known only from a single record (unverified by SG) from off the northeast coast; however, it may refer to a different species since Tasmania is well beyond the normal range for this species.
