Mytilidae: Amygdalum striatum (Hutton, 1873) (‘Beddome’s pearly-mussel’)
Synonym(s): striatum Hutton, 1873 aboerescens Chemnitz, 1795 beddomei Iredale, 1924.
Typical shell-length 50 mm. Lives subtidally and offshore on sand and mud, amongst a cluster of its own byssal threads. Native. Occurs in southeastern and southwestern Australia (NSW, TAS, VIC, SA and WA); also elsewhere in the Indo-Pacific.
