Onychoteuthidae: Ancistroteuthis lichtensteinii (Férussac [in Férussac & d’Orbigny], 1835) (‘Lichtenstein’s squid’)
Synonym(s): hamata Risso, 1854 lichtensteinii Férussac & d’Orbigny, 1839.
Typical mantle-length not yet documented. Lives in offshore waters in midwater. Native. Occurs in southern Australia (TAS and perhaps other states); also widespread in the warm temperate zones of both hemispheres. In Tasmanian waters, this species has been recorded from oceanic waters off southern Tasmania.
