Typical shell-length 50 mm. Lives subtidally and offshore attached to rocks by a shelly plug that occupies a hole in the left valve. Native. Occurs in southeastern and southwestern Australia (QLD, NSW, TAS, VIC, SA and WA); also New Zealand.
