Typical shell-length 90 mm. Lives subtidally embedded in hard sediments such as compacted mud and soft rock. Native. Occurs all around Australia (QLD, NSW, TAS, VIC, SA, WA and NT); not recorded elsewhere. In Tasmanian waters, this is a widespread and often common species.
