Pholadidae – Pholadinae: Barnea (Anchomasa) obturamentum (Hedley, 1893) (‘tongue-shaped angel-wing’)

Synonym(s): obturamentum Hedley, 1893.

Typical shell-length 70 mm. Lives subtidally embedded in hard sediments such as compacted mud and soft rock. Native. Endemic to southeastern and southwestern Australia (NSW, TAS, VIC, SA and WA). In Tasmanian waters, this is a widespread and often common species.
