Bullidae: Bulla quoyii Gray, 1843 (‘Botany Bay bubble-shell’)

Synonym(s): quoyii Gray in Dieffenbach, 1843 australis Gray, 1825 tenuissima Sowerby, 1868 botanica Hedley, 1918.

Typical shell-length 45 mm. Lives subtidally on sand and mud in sheltered environments. Native. Occurs in southeastern and southwestern Australia (QLD, NSW, TAS, VIC, SA and WA); also New Zealand. In Tasmanian waters, this is a common species in the far NE; rare further S and W.
