Typical shell-length 12 mm. Shell surface granulose. Lives subtidally and offshore on sponges and bryozoans in sandy areas. Native. Endemic to southeastern Australia (TAS, VIC and SA). In Tasmanian waters, this is a widespread species but seldom beached.
