Carditidae – Carditamerinae: Centrocardita rosulenta (Tate, 1887) (‘rosy false-cockle’)
Synonym(s): rosulenta Tate, 1887.
Typical shell-length 30 mm. Lives subtidally and offshore in sand and mud. Native. Endemic to southeastern and southwestern Australia (NSW, TAS, VIC, SA and WA). In Tasmanian waters, this is a widespread species in the N, though seldom beached; rare or absent elsewhere. Beached shells from the S are likely to be subfossils, dating from a warmer period.
