Trochidae – Trochinae: Clanculus maugeri (W. Wood, 1828) (‘Mauger’s top-shell’)

Synonym(s): maugeri Wood, 1828.

Typical shell-length 20 mm. Lives intertidally and subtidally amongst rocks and seaweed. Native. Endemic to southeastern Australia (NSW, TAS and VIC). In Tasmanian waters, this species is currently known only from a couple of records (unverified by SG); however, it may refer to a different species since Tasmania is well beyond the normal range for this species.
