Buccinidae – Buccininae: Cominella filicea (Crosse & Fischer, 1864) (‘ferny whelk’)
Synonym(s): filicea Crosse & Fischer, 1864.
Typical shell-length 35 mm. Lives intertidally and subtidally on rocks, sand and mud. Native. Endemic to southeastern and southwestern Australia (NSW, TAS, VIC, SA and WA). In Tasmanian waters, this is a common species in the N but rare or absent further S.
