Naticidae – Polinicinae: Conuber sordidum (Swainson, 1821) (‘dirty sand-snail’)
Synonym(s): sordidum Swainson, 1821 plumbea Lamarck, 1822 microstoma Quoy & Gaimard, 1833 leucophaea Reeve, 1855 strangei Reeve, 1855.
Typical shell-length 40 mm. Lives intertidally and subtidally in sand and mud. Native. Endemic to southern and eastern Australia (QLD, NSW, TAS, VIC and SA). In Tasmanian waters, this is a rare species with no confirmed recent records.
