Assimineidae – Assimineinae: Cryptassiminea buccinoides (Quoy & Gaimard, 1834) (‘whelk-like assiminea’)
Synonym(s): buccinoides Quoy & Gaimard, 1834 siennae Tenison-Woods, 1877 relata Cotton, 1942.
Typical shell-length 5.0 mm. Lives intertidally on mud, in sheltered environments. Native. Endemic to eastern Australia (QLD, NSW, TAS and VIC). In Tasmanian waters, this species is confined to the N coast.
