Cystiscidae – Cystiscinae: Cystiscus angasi (Crosse, 1870) (‘Angas’ margin-shell’)

Synonym(s): angasi Crosse, 1870 minima Petterd, 1884 shorehami Pritchard & Gatliff, 1899 simsoni Tate & May, 1900 ringens May, 1919 erma Cotton, 1944 amphora Laseron, 1948.

Typical shell-length 1.7 mm. Lives subtidally and offshore under rocks and stones. Native. Occurs all around Australia (QLD, NSW, TAS, VIC, SA, WA and NT); not recorded elsewhere. In Tasmanian waters, this is the most commonly recorded species of its family, occurring all around the coast.
