Mitridae – Mitrinae: Domiporta strangei (Angas, 1867) (‘Strange’s mitre’)
Synonym(s): strangei Angas, 1867 franciscana Tenison-Woods, 1877 nodostaminea Hedley, 1912 tasmantis Laseron, 1951.
Typical shell-length 20 mm. Lives subtidally and offshore amongst rocks and seaweed. Native. Endemic to southeastern and southwestern Australia (QLD, NSW, TAS, VIC, SA and WA). In Tasmanian waters, this species is recorded widely but seldom beached; most likely to be encountered on the N coast.
