Typical shell-length 40 mm. Bears coarse concentric ridges; young shells may have faint brown radial bands. Lives subtidally and offshore in sand. Native. Endemic to southeastern and southwestern Australia (NSW, TAS, VIC, SA and WA). In Tasmanian waters, this is a widespread but local species; most likely to be found in the N.
