Pectinidae – Chlamydinae: Equichlamys bifrons (Lamarck, 1819) (‘queen scallop’)

Synonym(s): bifrons Lamarck, 1819.

Typical shell-length 120 mm. Lives subtidally on sand and mud. Native. Endemic to southeastern Australia (NSW, TAS, VIC and SA). In Tasmanian waters, this is a widespread and common species, though most beached shells are juveniles.
