Trochidae – Umboniinae: Ethminolia vitiliginea (Menke, 1843) (‘blotchy top-shell’)
Synonym(s): vitiliginea Menke, 1843 tasmanica Tenison-Woods, 1877.
Typical shell-length 10 mm. Very similar to E. probabilis, but umbilicus relatively narrow. Lives subtidally amongst seaweed and seagrass. Native. Endemic to southeastern and southwestern Australia (TAS, VIC, SA and WA). In Tasmanian waters, this is a rare species confined to the N coast and Bass Strait islands; most likely to be found towards the NW.
