Crassatellidae: Eucrassatella kingicola (Lamarck, 1805) (‘King Island thickshell-clam’)

Synonym(s): kingicola Lamarck, 1805.

Typical shell-length 80 mm. Dark periostracum is very persistent. Lives subtidally in sand in exposed environments. Native. Endemic to southeastern Australia (NSW, TAS, VIC and SA). In Tasmanian waters, this is a widespread species but very local and seldom beached.
