Fasciolariidae – Fusininae: Fusinus (Fusinus) novaehollandiae (Reeve, 1848) (‘New Holland spindle-shell’)

Synonym(s): novaehollandiae Reeve, 1847 grandiculus Iredale, 1924.

Typical shell-length 160 mm. Lives subtidally and offshore on fine sand and mud. Native. Endemic to southeastern and southwestern Australia (NSW, TAS, VIC, SA and WA). In Tasmanian waters, this is a widespread species but seldom common; beached shells are usually broken.
