Synonym(s): retiolus Hedley, 1914.

Typical shell-length 120 mm. Lives in offshore waters. Native. Occurs in southeastern Australia (NSW, TAS and VIC); other subspecies elsewhere in the temperate zone of the southern hemisphere.
