Chromodorididae: Goniobranchus tinctorius (Rüppell & Leuckart, 1830) (‘staining sea-slug’)

Synonym(s): tinctorius Rüppell & Leuckart, 1828 reticulatus Pease, 1866.

Typical body-length 40 mm. Lives subtidally on sponges, on which it feeds. Native. Occurs all around Australia (QLD, NSW, TAS, VIC, SA, WA and NT); also elsewhere in the Indo-Pacific. In Tasmanian waters, this species is currently known only from isolated records on the north coast.
