Mangeliidae: Guraleus (Mitraguraleus) mitralis (Adams & Angas, 1864) (‘mitre-like turrid’)

Synonym(s): mitralis A. Adams & Angas, 1863.

Typical shell-length 17 mm. Variable in sculpturing (from smooth to cancellated), and in colouring (from white to narrowly, spirally brown-banded). Lives subtidally amongst rocks and seaweed. Native. Endemic to southeastern Australia (NSW, TAS and VIC). In Tasmanian waters, this is a widespread species; common in the N, but less so to the S.
