Histioteuthidae: Histioteuthis macrohista Voss, 1969 (‘large-webbed jewel-squid’)

Typical mantle-length 50 mm. Lives in offshore waters in midwater. Native. Occurs in southeastern Australia (NSW, TAS and VIC); also widespread in the cool temperate zones of both hemispheres. In Tasmanian waters, this species has been recorded as beak(s) recovered from the guts of beached whale(s).
