Galeommatidae – Lasaeinae: Lasaea australis (Lamarck, 1818) (‘southern lasaea’)

Synonym(s): australis Lamarck, 1818 scalaris Philippi, 1847.
Typical shell-length 6.0 mm. Typically lives among mussels. Lives intertidally and subtidally amongst byssal threads of mussels or in rock crevices or aggregations of Galeolaria tubeworms. Native. Endemic to southeastern and southwestern Australia (TAS, VIC, SA and WA). In Tasmanian waters, this is a widespread and abundant species.
