Laternulidae: Laternula (Laternula) attenuata (Reeve, 1863) (‘tapered lantern-shell’)

Synonym(s): attenuata Reeve, 1860 prolongata Reeve, 1863.

Typical shell-length 70 mm. Umbones placed off-centre. Lives intertidally and subtidally in mud in estuarine and other sheltered environments. Native. Endemic to southeastern Australia (NSW and TAS). In Tasmanian waters, this species is known only from the NW coast.
