Lepidoteuthidae: Lepidoteuthis grimaldii Joubin, 1895 (‘soft-scaled squid’)

Synonym(s): grimaldii Joubin, 1895.
Typical mantle-length 90 mm. Lives in offshore waters in midwater. Native. Occurs in southeastern Australia (TAS only); also widespread in the cool temperate zones of both hemispheres. In Tasmanian waters, this species has been recorded as beak(s) recovered from the guts of beached whale(s).
