Madrellidae: Madrella sanguinea (Angas, 1864) (‘blood-red sea-slug’)

Synonym(s): sanguinea Angas, 1864.

Typical body-length 30 mm. Lives intertidally and subtidally on bryozoans, especially Mucroetraliella ellersi and Orthoscuticella ventricosa, on which it feeds. Native. Occurs in southeastern and southwestern Australia (QLD, NSW, TAS, VIC, SA and WA); also elsewhere in the Indo-Pacific.
