Ranellidae – Cymatiinae: Monoplex (Monoplex) exaratum (Reeve, 1844) (‘ploughed rock-whelk’)

Synonym(s): exaratum Reeve, 1844.

Typical shell-length 55 mm. Lives subtidally amongst rocks and seaweed. Native. Occurs in Australia (QLD, NSW, TAS, VIC, SA, WA and NT); also widespread in the Indo-Pacific. In Tasmanian waters, this is a rare species only recorded from the E coast.
