Mytilidae: Musculus (Musculus) nanus (Dunker, 1857) (‘Pauluccia’s mussel’)

Synonym(s): nanus Dunker, 1856 paulucciae Crosse, 1863.
Typical shell-length 27 mm. Lives subtidally and offshore amongst rocks and seaweed. Native. Endemic to southeastern and southwestern Australia (TAS, VIC, SA and WA). There are as yet no confirmed records of this species in Tasmanian waters, although its presence here would not be surprising.
