Naticidae – Naticinae: Naticarius subcostatus (Tenison Woods, 1878) (‘scratched necklace-shell’)

Synonym(s): subcostatus Tenison-Woods, 1878.

Typical shell-length 10 mm. Bears faint radial striations on the upper fifth of each whorl. Lives subtidally and offshore in sand. Native. Endemic to southeastern and southwestern Australia (QLD, NSW, TAS, VIC, SA and WA). In Tasmanian waters, this species is seldom recorded; most likely to be found in the E.
