Naticidae – Polinicinae: Neverita aulacoglossa (Pilsbry & Vanatta, 1909) (‘common sand-snail’)

Synonym(s): aulacoglossa Pilsbry & Vanatta, 1908 tasmanica Tenison-Woods, 1876 ephebus Hedley, 1915.
Typical shell-length 40 mm. Umbilicus open. Lives subtidally in sand, in moderately sheltered environments. Native. Endemic to eastern Australia (QLD, NSW, TAS and VIC). In Tasmanian waters, this is a common species in the N, rare or absent to the S.
