Lottiidae – Lottiinae: Notoacmea mayi (May, 1923) (‘May’s limpet’)

Synonym(s): mayi May, 1923.

Typical shell-length 25 mm. Low-sided, with apex close to posterior margin; apex often heavily eroded. Underside often marbled dark and pale. Lives intertidally attached to rocks, generally on overhangs, and especially on exposed shores. Native. Endemic to southeastern Australia (TAS, VIC and SA). In Tasmanian waters, this is a widespread and often common species, though seldom beached.
