Pectinidae – Chlamydinae: Notochlamys hexactes (Péron [in Lamarck], 1819) (‘Tasmanian scallop’)

Synonym(s): hexactes Péron in Lamarck, 1819 undulatus Sowerby, 1842 (non Nilsson, 1827) tasmanicus A. Adams & Angas, 1863 mariae Tenison-Woods, 1876 anguineum Finlay, 1926.

Typical shell-length 40 mm. Lives subtidally and offshore attached to rocks in exposed environments. Native. Endemic to southern Australia (TAS and SA). In Tasmanian waters, this is a widespread species but seldom beached; most likely to be found in the N.
