Cypraeidae – Cypraeovulinae: Notocypraea subcarnea (Beddome, 1897) (‘plump cowrie’)

Synonym(s): subcarnea Beddome, 1896 albata Beddome, 1897.
Typical shell-length 20 mm. Shell outline very broad. Dorsum uniformly pale, with no trace of darker bands; ventral margin bears very few spots, all of which are large, blurred and relatively pale. Beached shells usually very worn. Lives subtidally under rocks and stones. Native. Endemic to southeastern Australia (TAS only). In Tasmanian waters, this is a widespread but rare speciese, least so in the SE.
