Synonym(s): africanae Nesis, Roeleveld & Nikitina.
Typical mantle-length 180 mm. Lives in offshore waters. Native. Occurs in southeastern Australia (TAS only); also New Zealand and South Africa. In Tasmanian waters, this species occurs well offshore, with the single available record from off the south coast; has also been recorded as beak(s) recovered from the guts of beached whale(s).
