Octopoteuthidae: Octopoteuthis rugosa Clarke, 1880 (‘rough octopus-squid’)

Synonym(s): rugosa Clarke, 1980.
Typical mantle-length 200 mm. Lives in offshore waters in midwater. Native. Occurs in southeastern Australia (NSW and TAS); also the southern Indian Ocean and possibly New Zealand.
