Marginellidae – Marginellinae: Ovaginella ovulum (G. B. Sowerby II, 1846) (‘egg margin-shell’)

Synonym(s): ovulum Sowerby, 1846 cypraeformis Tenison-Woods, 1878 cypraeoides Tenison-Woods, 1878 petterdi Beddome, 1883 tenisoni Pritchard, 1900.
Typical shell-length 10 mm. Lives subtidally and offshore in sand in moderately sheltered environments. Native. Endemic to southern and eastern Australia (QLD, NSW, TAS, VIC and SA). In Tasmanian waters, this is a widespread species, but generally rare; most likely to be found in the N.
