Pholidoteuthidae: Pholidoteuthis massyae (Pfeffer, 1912) (‘coffee-bean scaled-squid’)
Synonym(s): massyae Pfeffer, 1912.
Typical mantle-length 600 mm. Lives in offshore waters in midwater. Native. Occurs in southeastern Australia (TAS only); also widespread in the cool temperate zones of both hemispheres. In Tasmanian waters, this species has been recorded as beak(s) recovered from the guts of beached whale(s).
