Cardiidae – Protocardiinae: Pratulum thetidis (Hedley, 1902) (‘thetis cockle’)

Synonym(s): thetidis Hedley, 1902.
Typical shell-length 15 mm. Extent of red radial rays varies; background colour may be white, yellow or pink. Lives subtidally and offshore in sand in moderately exposed environments. Native. Endemic to southeastern and southwestern Australia (QLD, NSW, TAS, VIC, SA and WA). In Tasmanian waters, this is a widespread species, but seldom beached.
