Muricidae – Typhinae: Prototyphis angasi (Crosse, 1863) (‘Angas’ murex’)

Synonym(s): angasi Crosse, 1863 eos Hutton, 1873.
Typical shell-length 20 mm. Shell may be off-white, orange or pink. Lives subtidally amongst rocks and seaweed. Native. Occurs in southeastern and southwestern Australia (NSW, TAS, VIC, SA and WA); also New Zealand. In Tasmanian waters, this is a widespread but uncommon species; beached shells are seldom in good condition.
