Pyroteuthidae: Pterygioteuthis gemmata Chun, 1908 (‘gemmed enope-squid’)

Synonym(s): gemmata Chun, 1908.
Typical mantle-length 30 mm. Lives in offshore waters. Native. Occurs in southern and eastern Australia (QLD, NSW, TAS and SA); also widespread in the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian Oceans. In Tasmanian waters, this species occurs well offshore, with available records all from off the south and east coasts.
