Batillariidae: Pyrazus ebeninus (Bruguière, 1792) (‘Hercules’ club mud-creeper’)
Synonym(s): ebeninus Bruguière, 1792 baudini Montfort, 1810 angulifera Sowerby, 1866.
Typical shell-length 110 mm. Lives intertidally on mud. Native. Endemic to eastern Australia (QLD, NSW, TAS and VIC). In Tasmanian waters, this species is known only as a subfossil, dating from a past warmer period; beached shells most likely on the NW coast.
