Synonym(s): labiata Perry, 1811 achatina Lamarck, 1816 insperata Iredale, 1927.
Typical shell-length 60 mm. Lives subtidally on sand. Native. Occurs in southeastern and southwestern Australia (QLD, NSW, TAS, VIC, SA and WA); also New Zealand, South Africa and southeast South America. In Tasmanian waters, this is a rare species, most likely to be found in the E.
