Calyptraeidae: Sigapatella hedleyi E. A. Smith, 1915 (‘Hedley’s shelf-limpet’)

Typical shell-length 15 mm. No periostracum. Whorls concave and spire symmetrical, giving the shell a volcano-like profile. Lives subtidally attached to the shells of living molluscs, especially in more exposed environments. Native. Endemic to southeastern Australia (NSW, TAS, VIC and SA). In Tasmanian waters, this is a widespread but local species; most likely to be found around Flinders Island or on the E coast.
