Naticidae – Sininae: Sinum zonale (Quoy & Gaimard, 1832) (‘zoned sinum’)

Synonym(s): zonale Quoy & Gaimard, 1833 pauloconvexum Iredale, 1931.

Typical shell-length 30 mm. Resembles a Lamellaria, but larger, thicker and with striations. Lives subtidally in sand and mud, in sheltered environments. Native. Endemic to southeastern and southwestern Australia (QLD, NSW, TAS, VIC, SA and WA). In Tasmanian waters, this is a widespread species; common in the N, but rare to the S.
