Synonym(s): rhombus Troschel, 1857 elegans Troschel, 1857 major Gray, 1828 filiferum Hoyle, 1904 danae Joubin, 1933.
Typical mantle-length 1000 mm. Lives in offshore waters in midwater. Native. Occurs in Australia (QLD, NSW, TAS, VIC, SA, WA and NT); also widespread in warmer oceanic waters worldwide.
